Homework Club:
**HOMEWORK CLUB IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE OF SCHOOLS REOPENING***
Due to the transition of After Care going back to Superior, they are not in charge of Homework Club, or required to run one at all. We, as a team, decided that we will continue to run Homework Club on Mondays from 3:30-4:00.
This means that your child does not have to be a part of After Care to participate. If your child is already in after care, and would like to still participate on Mondays, we will follow the usual procedure of grabbing them that day.
We will alternate every week between the three of us, so there will only be ONE teacher to run it each Monday. It is important that if your child attends Homework Club, they must be picked up by 4:00.
You may sign your child up for Homework Club on this Google form:

*Homework will be inserted into clear protective sheets inside THE BINDER.
Math
All homework will have practice on one side and an answer key on the back to check their work.
Homework will be completed with a dry erase marker and is completed at the student’s leisure and around your family schedule.
So, how is your child held accountable for homework? Your child will have fluency checks that are directly tied to their grade. If your child is not practicing the sheets inside THE BINDER, then they are not going to be producing a high score on the fluency
checks. Remember, all homework is review from class lessons, as well as, centers. Therefore, your child is set up for success: Class lesson, class centers, and homework are all tied together in order to achieve mastery of skills.
Lastly, your child’s homework sheets may not be the same as their friends. Homework will be differentiated based upon need and
where a student is on learning a particular skill or standard. You are going to notice that homework sheets stay the same for a week. This
is for repetition and skills practice.
There is also a Splash Math account that the students may login into at home. The assignments/activities done through Splash Math are aligned with the second grade standards.
Reading
Reading fluency will be sent home every week. Students are to read the passage for one minute, and then record the number of words read when the minute is up. The fluency sheet has a chart in the back where they can graph their words per minute every day. Friday (Day 5) is done at school, when time allows.
Reading ten minutes with your student every night goes a long way. Any book at home can be read, and this build for both comprehension and fluency. The time will increase as the year goes on.
RAZ-Kids is an optional program that the students can do at home if permitted. They work on the program during a center in Reading, but it is not required as a homework assignment. Students have their own login information inside their binders, if decided to do at home.
Spelling
There is no specific required daily assignment for the spelling list every week. Students are expected to practice with any method that best fits their needs. Students practice daily during our literacy centers with a variety of activities to choose from in class.
